If your character is involved with criminal elements or belongs to a syndicate or underground organization, then permit Thierry to offer you his services. He can forge artworks, steal, spy and scout, break into rival groups, pretend to be someone his employer requests, and generally make a nuisance of whichever target you point him toward - for a price, of course. Thierry doesn't come cheap.
002 MISCHIEF Thierry does have something of a reputation bordering on the scandalous. While he has enough peerage to accurately proclaim himself a member of the nobility, that connection is tenuous at best; people are more interested in gossiping about his (alleged) relationships with unsavory denizens of the underworld, or that rumor that he had plied his services as a courtesan in the Far East.So if you are a young lady or gentleman seeking to scandalize the peerage, or if you're in need of a rake or a villain to further some necessary drama in your life (Disapproving parents? An unwanted engagement? Just the thrill of associating with riffraff?), then Thierry is your man, happy to go along with any scheme you can concoct up just to snub his nose in the nobility's faces a little bit more.
003 [ISHGARD GOSSIP] THE WAR He's fought in the Dragonsong wars. You might have heard of him - one of the elite dragoons sent to fight alongside the Azure Dragoon. You will likely know him more as the one who defected and left Ishgard before it ended. Rumor has it that a devoted friend of his perished in battle, the hows and why still shrouded in secrecy, and he lost his courage soon after.
004 ENEMIES Alternatively, perhaps you are one of the groups/syndicates/organizations that Thierry had swindled or stolen from, and perhaps you're out for some kind of revenge. Be warned, however; if there's anything Thierry is better at than stealing, it's running away to live another day. But perhaps he can come to an agreement or compromise with you for another deal, no harm meant?
005 [SCHOLAR] AETHER ODDITIES Thierry was born with the ability to see aether changes in his partially blind eye. He doesn't quite know how he got it, and while it's not enough for him to anticipate an opponent's every move, it's enough for him to know when aether is building up - enough to get out of sticky situations. If you're a scholar or academic interested in similar studies, Thierry might be a good guinea pig for you - for a price, of course.
006 IN DISGUISE There's a chance that you might have already encountered Thierry posing as a servant, or a professor, or a merchant, or a barrister, or any of the other 101 professions he's learned to pretend at. Thierry loves meeting people and thrives in the spotlight, so perhaps you would like to stop and engage in a stimulating conversation with him? Who knows - perhaps you might find some use for him while he's incognito, but be warned - when Thierry's in disguise, it usually means he already has a target in mind!
007 [RARE] MUTUAL TOXICITY EXES He can stand to have a few more past lovers, either ending in a professional working relationship, no hard feelings - or in bad blood. His organizational skills and leadership experience found him making weapons runs to resistance groups against the Garleans, where he first met 'Vin. They made a good team, both being able leaders in their own right, cementing after O'vin saved Thierry's life from an ambush.Departing for the Far East to negotiate weapon sales and other necessities, Thierry returns to find O'vin gone and most of his tribe killed. He tracked the mi'qote back to Eorzea, finding him impoverished and weakened by aether sickness. Annihilating the people responsible for his friend's plight, he has handed over O'vin's share of their previous profits, established a trade business with him and considers him his best friend, cheerfully weathering through the mi'qote's since-developed explosive anger issues and keeping him out of trouble.[best friends, war buddies, concerned friend]

Dzemael illegitimate son, real parents unknown; adopted by House Arcenaux13 years of age dragoon recruit; meets and becomes best friends with Nariel Saint-Avoire (14) and enters into a relationship with him three years later21 years of age given command of his own regiment; Nariel serves as second in command of another24 years of age Forced into a last stand after being caught between Midgardsommr and the Garleans during the Keeper of the Lake tragedy, after a higher ranking commander chose to withdraw the other troops and leave the rest stranded. A heavily injured Thierry saw his fellow dragoons wiped out, and witnessed Nariel's death from dragonfire as he lay helpless. The arrival of the Azure Dragoon, Alberic Bale, helped to rout both the Garleans and the horde, saving Thierry's life.Contesting the decision after his recovery, Thierry was blocked at all legal turns, the commander responsible in fact receiving a promotion for his actions. Sickened by the obvious corruption in the ranks, he renounced his position and left Ishgard after Nariel's funeral, but not before getting involved in an intense and highly publicized fight with his father, a High Inquisitioner loyal to the theocracy who had publicly denounced him as his son.
PAST: THE FAR EAST
24 years of age In Kugane, Thierry finally succumbs to his demons and his grief over Nariel's death. A drunken losing streak at the card tables results in a huge debt to a powerful yakuza boss, Arien of the Quiet. Deciding that the young man had potential, Arien set to work teaching Thierry all the tricks of the trade, from running smuggling rings to managing a business, to spying and disguise. Over the years, they develop an intense, though highly destructive sexual connection. Arien is not shy about sharing Thierry with others, furthering the toxic cycle and Thierry's pessimistic views on relationships.32 years of age Thierry has risen in the ranks to be one of Arien's trusted men, called the Professor for his knowledge of artifacts and ability to explain complicated matters in simple terms. But when he discovers that Arien had been secretly supplying the Garleans with the destructive firepower used in many of the Eorzean wars - including the foray into the Keeper of the Lake that had killed Nariel and his men - he chose to betray the Quiet to other rival clans, escaping before the fallout. Arien has since sworn revenge.33 years of age Develops a reputation as the Red Hound in Hingashi, as one who can hunt down and retrieve nearly anything for a price. Also finds himself involved with the Silken Lace, a high class bordello that also masquerades as a bounty hunting / specialist company for the discerning client. Thierry charges little for most of his retrieval fees, particularly to the unfortunate, wanting to repent for his role with the Quiet. He does, however, charge top prices when disguised as a professional courtesan, to hide his true identity. In order to stay one step ahead of Arien, he begins dealing in the information trade.
PRESENT
34 years of age Seeking a new purpose in life, Thierry joins the Dalmascan resistance, meeting O'vin Tia and eventually establishing a trade business supplying goods and weapons. O'vin later saves his life, a debt he has sworn to repay. He later returns to the Far East to procure more necessities, shipping them back to the resistance while finding more important connections in and around Hingashi while avoiding the Quiet, adopting new identities as needed.35 years of age Thierry learns that O'vin has gone missing and finds him in harsh circumstances in Eorzea, and uses his funds to aid him and establish a more permanent business together, mainly with spices and the occasional firearms. Arien nearly finds him, and after several encounters with those affiliated with his former master, Thierry decides to stay away from Hingashi at the present time.A retrieval mission puts Thierry on the same path as Sylvereaux, who has been seeking information about a certain Viera the pirate captain had been involved in years before. Thierry winds up helping the man unravel a series of cover-ups involving grotesque aether experimentations that tie back to many noble houses in Ishgard, forging a successful working partnership in the process. Thierry eventually agrees to join the captain and his Corsair crew as the public face of their trade business, the captain having been impressed with his ability to negotiate and close deals.38 years of age Deciding that it was the proper time to expand both trading and spice businesses, Thierry agrees to return to Ishgard to reestablish and forge further connections. He intends to only stay a short while - until he accidentally meets a pretty girl in a dive bar at the Brume.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Although partially blind in one eye, Thierry is able to see aetheric disturbances from it, allowing him to get out of problematic situations quickly.
Thierry finds an odd comfort in losing himself in any of the numerous identities he creates for his cons and scams. A magnificent actor, he can adapt to nearly every job that his work requires.
Happy-go-lucky and devil-may-care usually.... except when it's business. People have described the ease in which Thierry can go from cheerful to grim and no-nonsense, disconcerting.
Thierry enjoys having fun and likes variety in his life, or he gets bored far too easily. But when he forms an attachment it is hard to shake free. So while he may flirt and get into casual relationships, he is reluctant to commit. He's been in love once before, and it would take an extraordinary partner to make him willing to go through that hurt again.

001 LIES Nobody can say for sure where he'd come from. He'll tell you he's of sturdy Gridanian stock and was raised in a family of carpenters and lumberjacks, where they barely had food on the table what with ten siblings. He'll tell you he's came from Tural and used the opportunity to arrive to Eorzea seeking out an adventurer's life. He'll tell you he's a professor from a fine upstanding academy with all the paperwork to prove it, and joke about living an otherwise boring life grading papers. 002 PAST He won't tell you that he was born on the wrong side of the bed, one of many Dzemael fledglings passed off as the son of a previously childless couple of a minor house, expected to serve as yet another knight. He won't tell you how he rejected the oath and that vocation and left Ishgard after the war (too painful, too brutal; all he remembers is his laugh and his smile and his warmth before dragonfire chases those memories into nightmares), the nature of his travels causing some minor scandals as reports of his activities filtered back to the city. From rubbing shoulders with pirates to spearheading smuggling rings to swindling - none of them confirmed, but easy fodder for gossip nonetheless. 003 TREASURE Whatever the truth, Thierry did amass a good source of income and connections from his time away. His apparent wealth upon returning to Ishgard allowed him to be tolerated by the peerage, though not quite completely welcomed into their social circles. For his part, Thierry doesn't appear fazed by the talk about him, and seem amused by the colorful tales more often than not. After all, he does not visit Ishgard for the gossip....
004 ADVENTURE Thierry has worked as a sailor, treasure seeker, bounty hunter, mercenary, cook, notary, barrister, goldsmith, bodyguard, and a professor specializing in Yak'tel history and ancient artifacts. Some of these might even be true. Certainly he appears knowledgeable enough to claim them all. 005 CRIMES From a very young age, Thierry discovered that he had a natural gift for gab, which proved to be useful when funds were running low or when he's been backed into a corner. He has also proved to be a highly skilled forger, working his way through Eorzea and the Far East forging historical artifacts and paintings and selling them at a huge profit. His ability to imitate works of art in various media, coupled with his silver tongue, has enabled Thierry to get away with most of his confidence scams, pocketing some hefty money in the process - but the thrill of the chase and the want for a challenge keeps him in the game instead of retiring to seek a comfortable, albeit more boring, life. 006 ENEMIES As good as he is, he has unfortunately attracted the attention of questionable groups and syndicates who are either wanting to hunt him down for selling them forgeries, or are after his skill turning out fake goods for their benefit. One in particular he has bad blood with. While competent enough to avoid them for the most part, it's only a matter of time before he finally reaps what he'd sown....
